Research Influences -

Micheal Kenna -

Born 1953 Kenna is an English photographer best known for his unusual black and white landscapes. By capturing his images at the early hours of dawn or late nights with exposures of up to 10 hours. My Best Images-

Images that require improvement-

A03 - My idea for recording travel was to photograph the island of Zakinthos and explore different landscapes that are different compared to the UK. This included photographing many seascapes as well as mountainscapes and experimenting with colour. My best images have really reflected the colours within the landscapes which vary from warm and cool tones. They show clear detail down to the ripples in the waves and the texture of rocks. The images could have been improved If I had a different lens which would enable me to zoom in further and capture even more detailed aspects from a distance, although I was really happy with my images and they all cam out a lot better than I had aspected. I did notice however, after the photos were taken I had a watermark on my lens, so I therefore edited this out in photoshop.

A02- In this shoot I again used my canon dslr and did not use a tripod due to the uneven surfaces which would've caused the camera to be at an angle. I did however edit some of my images in photoshop this time really focusing on the vibrance and hue of each image. Due to exploring colour within these photos I did think I was important to get creative in photoshop and really make the colours sharp and stand out.

A01- Based on the research of Micheal Kenna I looked at many seascapes and mountainscapes and captured these with a high exposure. I then took my best images and edited them within photoshop, although I edited a majority of these in colour, I did experiment with black and white which was Kenna's significant style.

A04- I feel this shoot has helped develop the theme I have chosen to study due to the idea that I am photographing landscapes of a different country. It shows how nature changes depending on where and when you are in a location. I have created some powerful images of sunsets which can also reflect the heat of the country due to the orange hue and high saturation.

Progression-

In my next shoot I want to focus on the transport of travel and in this case capturing planes or trains in movement to resemble how they drive and fly within the sky and on the tracks. I will make sure to adjust the shutter speed accordingly for the movement so that they are still images and not blurred
