Plans for shoot -
For this shoot I will focus on capturing elements of travel. This will include objects such as passports, train tickets, bus tickets, buses and anything that relates to what you may see whilst travelling.
Research influences -
Garry Winogrand
Born in New York 1928, this was where Winogrand lived and worked most of his life. Best known for his portrayal of U.S life he focused on The visual elements of city streets, people, rodeos, airports and animals in zoos. These subjects are part of his most influential work and within his lifetime he received many grants, including several Guggenheim Fellowships and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.

Images that require improvement -
A01 -
I used Garry Winogrand as my artist for this shoot as he focused a series of photos solely on features of an airport. This involved things such as airport lounges and the outside. I decided to then use his work and incorporate it with my own twist. Therefore, I decided to photograph pictures of passports and train stations looking at how people travel and what factors are involved. Just like Winogrand I captured expressions of people when looking coming out of a public area e.g terminal, train station.

In this shoot I used a camera DSLR to capture my images. I did not use a tripod for my images as I felt this was difficult as it was a distraction from peoples reactions. I then took the images in manual mode making sure to adjust the shutter speed accordingly to capture the subjects in my photo making sure they were clear and in focus. When then editing my photos I used photoshop and used burning and dodging to create darker shadows and lighter exposures within my images. I also then increased the contrast making the objects stand out from background

My idea for recording travel photography for this shoot was to capture objects, signs and places that resemble ways of travelling and things used to travel. An example of this was taking photos of a passport next to a pint of beer. Which is seen to be done by many British tourists before going on holiday and symbolises that. My best images I think included the travellers passing through the station barriers as well as the passport photographed by the pint and train ticket. I think these were effective by how in focus they were as well as the candid expressions from the passengers. However my photos for improvement were those which included the moving buses as they were out of focus due to the harsh lights and movement which the camera did not have an accurate mode for as it was set for a brighter exposure.

Overall I feel this effectively showed how travel involves objects as well as people and transport. It links how there are many features to a passengers journey and symbolises British travellers.
Progression -
This being my final shoot, I intend to now focus on collecting my most successful images into a portfolio of Final images and then evaluate these accordingly. I may experiment with other photos both physically and creatively seeing what I can experiment with and if I like these.
