Plans for shoot -
For this shoot I intend to print out my own images and cut them into a template of a plane. I will then hold this template against the sky to resemble a plane flying. This will represent travel through a physical experiment
Research influences -
Rich Mcor
Is a photographer who created a series of images that involved creating handmade stencils which he then incorporated into his own photos. He released a book called "Around the world in cut-outs" in which he has used his own stencils made out of black card and held them against famous London landmarks. He also did this in Toronto as well as South Korea.

Images that require improvement -

My work has developed from my artist reasearch based upon the physical technique of involving stencils. The artist Rich Mcor used black stencils within his photos to create an effective image. I decided to experiment this and use plane stencils/ cut-outs to reflective the idea of a plane flying in the sky. However it was very windy and this made the cutout turn against the camera in some shots. I do however think the photos turned out well and were effective

I used my canon dslr in this photo shoot but incorporated the physical experimentation of plane templates within my photo. When editing my photos within Photoshop i then used the heal tool which meant i was able to get rid of the rod i had used to hold up the template up against the sky meaning the photo looked more effective. I converted some of my images into black and white to experiment with exposures.

My idea for recording this shoot was to do a physical experiment that involved me taking a template of a vehicle used for transportation. In this instance mine was a plane and holding this up to the sky whilst taking images. My best images were those that had the background in focus and the contrast between both the sky and the template had been clear, although when looking at images i could improve upon. The exposure of the plane was poor and meant that the actual image which had been produced on the template which had been one of the images i previously took from a shoot you could not see.

Overall i felt this was a good physical experiment and was quite effective as it captured the element of travel in a unusual and abstract way. I felt it links within the theme i have chosen to study but at the same time being able to be creative within my work.
Progression -
In my next shoot I am planning on going back to looking at travel within people and transportation. I plan on looking at objects associated with travel such as passports, maps, train tickets and even what people get up to before and after travelling.
