Plans for shoot -
For this shoot I plan to photograph London from a tourists perspective, this may include various markets, transport and people within my photographs. I may also look at the architectural side and photograph buildings and monuments of London.
Research influences -
Lee Friedlander
Born in 1934, Friedlander had been capturing picture with his camera from the age of 14. By 22 he had moved to New York City and started to photograph jazz musicians for record covers which started off his career within photography. By the 1980's some of his most famous photographs appeared in the September 1985 Playboy, which were black and white nude photographs of Madonna from the late 1970s. However, Friedlander was most notoriously known for his landscape, especially of social america.

Images that require improvement -
A01 -
When looking at the work I have produced it, it reflects the artist I have researched as I have looked at a city and people within a city. Friedlander had a series of photos called 'the streets' which entailed looking at people within a location and city. Where most of his photos where in black and white I decided to experiment with my own once I had taken them.
A02 -
In this shoot I used a DSLR canon to capture my images. I switched this into manual mode and adjusted the settings accordingly. I then went into photoshop and converted my images to black and white and experimented with exposures to resemble the photos of Friedlander.
A03 -
My idea for recording travel in this shoot was to identify tourist attractions within a city. I did this by photographing tourists within a London location as well as capturing market stalls that sell London themed merchandise and historical monuments within London. When looking at my best images, one I thought looked good was the market stall as all the souvenirs where in focus as well as having a range of people within my images. The image was not blurred and there was a good amount of light exposure. However, some images that may need improvement where those which had been taken outside and due to the settings of the camera and the shutter speed, some images the figures were blurred and although this can sometimes look effective. In these photos it just looked as if the camera was out of focus rather than trying to show movement.

Overall I would say that the images shot within this shoot have expressed my theme of travel. By showing tourists in a popular city known worldwide, it shows relevance to how someone who travels would then spend their time in the destination and what there may be to offer.
Progression -
In my next shoot I again want to focus on the aspect of transport within travel. Due to wanting to focus on and take images of moving vehicles from an outsiders perspective rather than inside a car I am planning on finding a road to take images of moving vehicles. This will be tricky however as it means that the cars may be moving very fast and will have to adjust my camera settings to work with that.
